Abstract

While the education systems across the post-Soviet region have long relied on centralized and outdated models, Azerbaijan is shifting this paradigm. Driven by digital transformation and a tech-savvy youth population, EdTech startups are rapidly emerging across the country. These ventures offer innovative solutions that respond to local needs while aligning with global trends. Unibroad, for instance, simplifies the university application process through AI-powered guidance and multilingual support, helping students access international education opportunities. Code Academy stands out by offering practical, career-oriented training in technology. Government-backed initiatives like STEAM Azerbaijan also play a vital role in promoting creativity and problem-solving from an early age. These startups are introducing a more flexible and interactive approach to learning through personalized education, gamification, and AI-based feedback systems. In Azerbaijan, this represents not just a technological evolution but a pedagogical and cultural transformation. Nevertheless, challenges remain, including limited funding, digital inequality, and insufficient teacher readiness. Despite these hurdles, growing government support, international recognition, and increasing investment are positioning Azerbaijan as a regional hub for educational innovation. If this momentum continues, the country is well on its way to becoming a leader in the EdTech revolution.
